Leaving Westport, headed to Shannon where we will spend one night before flying back to Boston out of Shannon, we took the scenic route.
We stopped by Croagh Patrick, but did not climb to the top. Nonetheless, the views the hundreds of islands in the bay, and of Croagh Patrick itself, were beautiful.
At the base of the mountain is a moving memorial to the Irish famine and particularly the “famine ships” on which so many people died heading to America.

Driving inland, through the Connemara area, we had one gorgeous view after another.
We arrived at the Airport Manor B&B in Shannon (very nice), and Greg had his last pint of Guinness in Ireland (for now).
