The Great Western Greenway is a bike and walking trail converted from a narrow gauge railway.
We drove the short distance from Westport to Newport and rented bikes there, and then we biked from Newport to Mulranny.
There were great views all along the greenway.

The path led through sheep and cattle farms. At one point, we waited while a calf nursed in the middle of the path.

They’ve done a wonderful job with the bike path, and we both fell in love with Mulranny when we arrived there. We particularly liked the cows napping on the beach.
Next: Westport to Shannon via Croagh Patrick and Connemara (4/23/2017)
