We’ve spent the last few days in Dingle, an Irish-speaking tourist town on the beautiful Dingle peninsula. We’re staying in An Capall Dubh (“black horse”) and have enjoyed some wonderful breakfasts.
Dingle town is fairly tourist-y — Rick Steves calls it “a petri dish of capitalism”, with loads of art shops, restaurants & pubs, B&B’s, etc. The art is quite good, with a number of nationally known artists in residence.
Our first full day we spend dawdling around Dingle town, popping into shops and hanging around our lovely B&B.
Our second day (Sunday April 16, 2017), we did a tour of the peninsula, featuring lots of ancient artifacts from the iron age; old fortresses, “beehive” houses made of stone, and so forth.
Here’s a picture of me and Ann at the site of some of the beehive structures.
We visited the workshop / store of Louis Mulcahy, who does amazing work.
We had lunch in the cafe there, and of course all the plates and goblets were his work. Here’s a picture from our lunch table, with Latté’s in mugs and water in goblets.
We bought a small lamp that we will have shipped to Newton.
We stopped at a few beaches. On one I did a few yoga poses (for sharing with my teacher training friends via Facebook.

Throughout the peninsula, the scenery is drop-dead gorgeous. Following is a typical view; in this case from some remnants of some ancient fortifications.
At one old fort we visited, it was nap time for the sheep.
